Sceptre House: Preston
Sceptre House, a recently refurbished office block located in the heart of Lancashire, underwent a significant upgrade to its building management system (BMS) in 2024. The project involved replacing the existing three BMS control panels with state-of-the-art Trend IQ4E controllers and I/O modules.
JBC Control Systems Ltd collaborated closely with the client to minimise disruption to the daily operations of this busy office during the upgrade. The project included developing new software and control strategies and replacing all existing temperature sensors with modern equivalents. The three updated Trend panels now communicate seamlessly via the client's LAN.
As part of the upgrade, an IQ Vision BMS supervisor PC/server was installed, featuring new, intuitive BMS graphics for enhanced system oversight.
The new BMS solution includes:
Boiler control for constant temperature (CT) circuits
Domestic hot water (DHW) control
Air handling units (AHUs)
Over 50 reheat batteries with replacement actuators
Integration of solar panels
Generator monitoring
The upgraded BMS provides the client with a future-proof solution, fully re-commissioned valves and control loops, and a foundation for further energy efficiency improvements. This modernised system ensures optimal performance and offers enhanced capabilities for energy management in the years ahead.
